Change in Scientific Importance for Youth, also known as "Delta SIFY," is a movement intended to provide immersive educational opportunities for students in underserved communities to explore the fields of STEM. We believe that access to a quality, fulfilling education should be a fundamental human right, not a privilege.

Science Olympiad Coaching Program

Delta SIFY members coach middle school students for the regional Science Olympiad Competition, which is a scientific competition designed to test students about scientific disciplines spanning 23 different events surrounding life, personal and social sciences, earth and space science, physical science and chemistry, technology and engineering, and lastly inquiry and nature of science.

Delta SIFY members create Day in the Life Videos featuring their daily routines, any research or lab work, areas of passion and interest, and future career aspirations. The intention is to display what an average day is like for different college majors so K-12  students obtain a brief exposure to what college life entails.

Highlander Invitational

Highlander Invitational

Delta SIFY members host the Highlander Invitational, which is UC Riverside's official Science Olympiad tournament and the premier Inland Empire STEM competition. The goal of the Highlander Invitational is to drive engagement in STEM and foster the creative talent of youth minds. The competition provides a unique opportunity for students across Southern California to learn and collaborate in a curiosity-driven, competitive environment.

Maddie's Math Mentoring

Maddie's Math Mentoring (MMM)

Delta SIFY members coach middle school students for the Math Olympiad competition, which is a highly competitive math contest for middle school students. Math Olympiad encourages students to explore elementary methods of mathematical problem solving. The MMM program was started by UCR Science Ambassador Madeleine Haddad in 2022.

Science Lesson of the Week (SLOW)

Delta SIFY members host weekly, interactive science lessons (SLOW) that complement curriculum being covered in the class. These lessons provide students with a unique, hands-on experience to explore topics in biology, chemistry, engineering, and more. SLOW lessons are open to students of all grades and are hosted alongside existing afterschool programs.
